Bleedin' cars

Battery on the Toyota has just gone clunk.

Took the Fiesta round to jump it and the bonnet release cable on that has snapped also.

Dunno how I am going to get that open.....

Reach up from underneath with a pair of pliers and try to grab the end of the cable?

Why the reference to Onan in your sig?

Got a new battery for 27 quid earlier, which struck me as very reasonable.

Can you reach up fom underneath ? It's a 96 Zetec. It's been too wet today to grovel under cars, and Mr Haynes talks of pinging of the radiator grille

Erm, no, it gets us to fire up google, if we can be bothered.

Have you considered this, though?

Batteries seem to be really cheap now. Paid £60 for a 55Ah Bosch a few years ago. According the new Euro Car Parts catalogue they sell an 88Ah (that's fsucking massive) Bosch battery for £52. Think I'll get one if it'll fit under my back seat. That'll impress the ladies.

Are you sure you're comparing like with like - I think Bosch do about four grades of battery for however much you want to pay. Having said that, Euro Car Parts are normally excellent value. I don't think battery prices have changed to any great extent, but the better spec. batteries are now longer lasting with calcium alloy plates, so probably worth the extra if you're hanging onto your car. BTW Bosch don't make batteries - they are rebadged Varta.

I've only ever seen the one type, Bosch Silver, and that's what these are. They have a 3 year warranty if I remember.

I don't like them any more - the last lot of BMW parts I got were crap and as expensive as dealer parts, so I go to the dealer now, and the oil was more expensive than Halfords so I get that from Halfords now. But at least their latest catalogue actually has spare parts in it instead of just d*****ad exhausts and luminous aluminium carbon fibre effect gear knobs.
