Hi picking one of these up in a couple of days...had 3 petrol but this is my first diesel.. its a 93 (270000), i have had petrols at more than that fine, but what about diesel?

I know the petrol had crap plastic impellor on the water pump, which always failed, but does the diesel too? i guess that milage it would have been done already as my 3 petrol went between 110000 and 140000

What the diesel like? never had one, but driven a few...and any tips on the turbo, do i have to do certain things before i switch off?

this is a 5 speed manual..

Hoping to use it around Europe, like i did in my petrol, but what sort of mpg does a diesel do? i know its only 150hp, 50down on the petrol of same size..but still ok for towing or filling full of beer from Germany?

Its a touring, which i like..

Diesels always seem to go much higher on ebay than petrols and got this at a BIN, full tax and a few MOT, changed the starter, battery, altenator and had lots of services..

usual niggles, like rear boot pistons gone and someone had tried to break in and damaged a front handle etc, but not too bothered, so hoping its ok, for

450....pick it up on Thur cheers

Let it idle for 30 seconds if you've been hooning it before switching off. Change the oil pretty regularly.

So it'll have a bloody awful clutch action - "They all do that, Sir"

Diesel will do between 28-40 mpg depending on how you drive it.

So do I.

That's about right for a mega-mile diesel Touring. Has it got any goodies? Leather, AC, LSD?

Sounds cheap enough, enjoy.

I had an E34 many many moons ago that used to chew front shocks and rear wheel bearings. Don't know why, but they're nice enough things.

ta, they said they reguarly changed the oil, which i think is more often than a petrol..

Ah, i only had 1 manual (520 salloon) bit cant remember that far back, didnt have it long, a tyre blew at high speed....then i went straight to a

525 touring petrol auto

ah ta, i went twice with the 525 petrol (M50 latter) to germany wasnt bad cruising or a steady 110 on autobahn...only trouble i had was with a roof box, a square one so of course it drank, but i said behind huge wagons for

500 miles, sucking me the rear and got over 50mpg (v lucky, cos my bank stopped my card, and i had 1 full tank, and a jerry can from poland to get me back to england from E GErmany)

I guess it will be better around town that a auto petrol, but still a big heavy car...

so useful, last one had the usual brake light error, but they didnt mention it on this one...

nah, unfort not....no wood at all, pity, but its just in my price range...not sure if its got levelling susp either..

ta, do you know if its the same water pump impellor made of plastic?

are the diesels thirsty on oil or smoke a lot?

My petrol at 300,000 was running like new, no smoke, no oil etc etc..

I swopped with some germans working over here and i got a german VW camper (but wrote off by a drunk driver 3 months later)

Would love in the future to goto a more modern bimmer, something a little more luxory..

hated autos on normal cars, but the last bimmer was great, powerfull and so easy to drive to Berlin in a day and get there not aching..
