car reg transfer?

Someone wants to buy my car reg. Can anyone tell me how much it costs to get a new reg on my car so I can sell the old one?

Have you asked Swansea? The last time I had a query about a driving licence classification I emailed them and got a reply about 1 day later. Which was quite good I thought.

Last time I did it, £80. Plates cost £18 a set. The buyer should pay all the costs and give you whatever for the cherished number. My lad got £300 for a number off a car he paid £60 for. Then he sold the car for £200. Some guy knocked on his door (some years ago) for FEM---Y. Dunnno the significance other than the car was once owned by Linda Chalker, now in the House of Lords (the one that Tony was going to abolish). DaveK.

davek ( snipped-for-privacy@brentmere53.fsnet.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

Tony was going to abolish Linda Chalker?

No, just your right to Linda Chalker. Only government officials will be allowed to Linda Chalker as of June 1st, anyone else caught Linda Chalkering will be Tony Benned for life.

Did a car reg transfer on 13 April from my old car to my newly acquired = car (04 reg) and they took my paperwork, checked it and cashed the = cheque for =A380 immediately. Took 2 weeks to get permission to change over the plates but was warned = that I should not and could not dispose of the "old" car until I was in = receipt of the new V5s. Today, one month later, I am still waiting for = the V5s.=20 I am also waiting to change over the registered keeper to the new owner = (privately, to a relative - not to a dealer) but as yet, I am still the = registered keeper and still waiting.

Not a great problem, you may say but the new owner was asked, when = taking out the insurance, whether they were the owner and whether they = were the registered keeper. They had to be both to get the insurance = cover? (Norwich Union Direct).

Why they couldn't do it whilst I was waiting at the DVLA office I don't = know - they did 5 years ago when I transferred the number to the "old" = vehicle - being cynical, I assume this was done so quickly then because = I "bought" the registration from DVLA. Now that I am moving it to my = "new" car, they are only making the eighty quid out of it.

Disappointed with the delay, wouldn't mind but the old car got its old = number back again so no great difficulty there.............
