Citreon Zx radiator leak

Nov 01, 2004 3 Replies

Hi my partners Citreon ZX diesel has developed a massive water leak. After checking I have found the leak is where the bottom rad hose meets the bottom of the radiator. Afyter checking although the hose is secure on the metal pipe, the metal hose is loose in the radiator base. Has anyone any ideas of how to repair this fault, I am thinking of using a heat resistant silicon sealer wouylds this work???. Thanks in advance Dave

To get a good seal on this , you would need to get the rad out of the car

And how long will it last is in my expiriance in the laps of the gods.

Personally , I would replace the rad and change coolant at same time of it is due.

Cooling is what often kills these engines in the end. I'd suggest that you ought to bite the bullet and get another radiator.

I think you are taking a big risk by repairing a radiator this way. If the rad is copper then soldering is the accepted and best method.

If a repair fails you may end up losing all your water quickly and possibly damaging the engine.
