A friend has a 1994 1.1L AX which needs a new alternator. The car is in Exeter and I'm in Bristol and I want to get a second hand alternator from a scrapyard up here then go and fit it at the weekend.
My question is, will an alternator from any AX of that rough vintage do the job, or are there likely to be a number of different variants meaning that I'd be better off getting the old one off first to match them up?
