I'd say 25,000 miles is an average for brake pads - at least in my experience of many different makes of cars.

Heh, my intervals are 20k, and I appear to get 10k out of a set of fronts and little more out of a set of rears :-)

I got through tyres and brakes every 6k in my Ka, along with an oil change. Recommended change was at 10k IIRC. That said, the brakes were a bit underspecced and you had to keep up momentum through corners if you wanted to get anywhere...

That's on the surface though.

You also cooked them. Conversely I put mine on the track and the fronts lasted around 40,000 miles.

Errm, where else would it rust?
