Those are not big cars.

When Burton Police moved over to Diesel for patrol cars they complained that they where too slow and the crooks were getting away. They had to be taught how to drive properly.

Well, there's an interesting question : what proportion of cars in the UK are bigger? People carriers, obviously. Large estate cars like the Xantia are getting less common though.

I do occasionally wonder what I'll get as a replacement when the Xantia dies. Needs to be long enough to fit a tandem inside, so large estate car is probably still the answer - but having read frenchcarforum for a bit, I don't think I want a C5. I still don't want a people carrier. Mondeo - just no. Passat, Superb, A6 - maybe, I'd have to see if it would fit.

It makes perfect sense to do that.

I'm guessing each of their vehicles covers more than 5,000 miles per year however. ;-)

Current 3 series appear to be larger; Focus estate maybe an inch smaller.

Both are smaller - and will be even smaller on the inside.
