Engine Warning Light Issue

2002 1.8 VVTI Toyota Avensis - Engine management light came on and stayed on . On checking code garage said it was oxygen sensor and replaced , Light came on again a day later and the same code showed .......... Garage said to carry on driving car as it wouldn't do any harm. I have driven car now for a further two months or so and it is running as well as ever and not using any more fuel . It is due for it's MOT this month and want to know if it will pass iff it only a warning light issue and not emissions problem etc. .... I don't want to keep shelling out for sensors as the car isn't worth it and they don't seem to be making any difference anyhow

Thnx for any help

Um, maybe the sensor's fine but the oxygen level in your exhaust is wrong? Small air leak perhaps?

It would seem that it's not currently a failure:

as long as the emissions are within limits, of course.

Thnx for quick responses - I should have added that the code was

Well you can check if that's dead easily by metering it, but if it's happened twice then the connecter's worth checking carefully.
