Escort Auxilliary Belt

Hi everyone

I'm having the auxilliary belt on my Ford Escort (1998 1.6 Finesse) changed next week. Garage has quoted =A330 including labour. My question is: is it worth getting the water pump renewed at the same time as I have heard that these can cease at higher mileages?

The car has done 80,000 miles and had a cambelt change 2,000 miles ago. If I should get the pump changed, how much would be a reasonable price (parts and labour)?

Thanks for your help

These engines aren't prone to eating water pumps, but you may as well if you want to keep it for a while. FYI to those not in the know, the water pump isn't driven off the cambelt, like so many other engines.
