My 1996 escort deisel is loosing water, it seems to be dripping from the cambelt area, is the waterpump in this vicinity?
And if so what tools will I require to change it?

Yep it is. Usual spanners.
It would be unbelievably handy if you told us what engine your escort has, but as 98% of all engines have the water pump at the cam drive end, then yes, your pump is possibly leaking- although it could be one or two other things as well...
