I know its a long shot but the fan belt on my Espace (M reg) 2.1 helios TD, has just snapped. Does anyone know the cost of Kwik Fit doing the work? I need it doing for friday, all my local garages are too busy and I was thinking of asking KF but didnt want to get charged a fortune. My mate also mentioned the crank seals had gone and were leaking oil and that was what had shortenedthe life of the fan belt as it had oil on it.

It's a fan belt, if it's quiet when it leaves they'll be fine. & about £30
Well if that's true don't let KwikFit anywhere near them as they'll bugger it (they can still change the fan belt) & don't let Renault near it as they'll bugger your bank account. If they've actually died you want the cambelt changing anyway ASAP.
Sorry Duncan I dont fully get your post. Yes the fan belt was completely snapped. So you estimate about £30 to fix? I didnt understand the quiet part of the post. The timing belt was changed only a short while ago, but my mate said the seals were leaking oil onto the cam belt and fan belt and he said it needed doing asap as you shouldnt have oil on either belt/
Yep, if you've got oil on the cam belt then it can jump & that's over a grand in repair bills. The fan belt's easy, quik fit will be fine, if you've actually got an oil leak on the front of the engine though & it's getting onto the cam belt then it needs to go & see a real garage. Mr Cheerful can doubtless pop along & tell us how long cam belt & seals on an espace should take.
it is an (autodata) 4.5 hour job plus bits, so about 300 plus bits, total about 500. Mind you, I will no longer work on French (schwiiiit ting) cars, I got so fed up with all the badly designed overpriced POS that about 5 years ago at Christmas I took the decision to avoid them henceforth. There is one though that I check over for an old boy, a one year old Renault scenic, I just check the fluids, tyres, lights etc. and send him away again, nothing involved.
