Hi,
Anyone know what component failure to do with the exhaust system could cause the emissions to go up so far the cpu wont allow the vehicle to be driven? [This is in a 2006 renault cleo.]

Catalytic converter?
Lamda sensor? Some have two (or more) before and after the cat(s). But are usually fairly easy to change and should throw up a fault code.
