fiesta idle problem

been there, done that, where is the explanation again? Hitachi valve causing the problem or something and the car grinds to a halt when slowing down, manifests itself when hot rather than cold

solutions please, preferably cheap ones

We had this one, I think it needed a new throttle potentiometer. Wasn't expensive.

The best solutions are cheap! :)

The most common cause is the idle control valve (check it out on

okay it's the Ka donk but it looks 90% the same on the Fiesta). Carefully remove (so as not to damage the 8-seal), clean, replace and hope.

Otherwise it may be the throttle position sensor. Not as cheap but not expensive...
