Focus battery

Asking for a friend at work ironically we have the same car.

1.8 04 petrol focus ghia

I know the focus needs a special calcium battery ? something to do with the smart charge system so you can't use a regular lead one.

Basically his battery has given up the ghost after 8 loyal years.

He spotted a bosch s4 075 battery 60Ah/540cca at his local motor factors BUT they don't know anything about calcium ones but it is as listed for the focus. The battery is £55 which is decent I think.

Will this battery live happily with the smart charge system of the focus or should he seek more info on this.

Yep. Good choice, and fair price.

Who would know more about a battery being suitable - the battery maker or a counter assistant? Most other than budget batteries these days use calcium technology.

You would have thought, although I guess he could have googled it. Usually that motor factors is spot on with help.
