focus Window regulator

My Electric window regulator seems to have gone wrong.. the cable got all tangled up and then I snapped the plastic cable retainer on the window bracket. I was just wandering if gluing/ re-winding the cable is going to be a workable cure or is a new regulator the only option ? Did they change the design of these at some point, it seems remarkably flimsy. I never really open the rear windows anyway !

I haven't seen the insides of a Focus regulator, but they Mazda and VW ones I've seen have 2 cables. If it's all tangled, one of them may have snapped?

Sometimes the drum gets mangled if a cable snaps.

Personally I'd be down the scrappy looking for a complete one as the ones I've tampered with are the devil's own work to get working properly again.

It's also absolutely infuriating to have something you've glued go ping once you've put the insides of the door back together again and have set off on your merry way.

DAMHIKIJDOK?

Nods in agreement when recalling years of doing them on Chevettes.

so that's =A3151 including a replacement inner seal which I clumsily destroyed... I'm going to enjoy watching that window going up and down that's for sure ! thanks Simon

Ouch. Was that from Mr Scrap or a real-life Ford shop?

Hope it doesn't happen again.

Direct from Ford, although I did have a couple of offers from the findapart web site. From pictures I have seen on the web, it looks to me like they've re-designed it, so I thought I might as well get a new one and get the job done once and for all.
