Ford Fusion (Fiesta) fumes inside

I have a 07 reg Ford Diesel Fusion.

Recently I've become aware of diesel fumes inside when the heater unit is on non-recirculate, switching to re-circulate seems to fix the problem.

Has anyone else met this problem and if so is there a fix?

TIA

that model suffers from leaking injector seals, the first symptom to notice is fumes in the cab. An expensive job to get fixed. I know of one done at an independent diesel specialist recently and the bill was 400 quid, which apparently is quite cheap.

Is that symptomatic of most diesel Fusions from that era? A relative has a 54 reg 1.4 TDCI - is it something to be expected at some point?

It is a lottery, but it does seem to be too common, as a google search will show.

That was cheap, maybe so many are failing that Fords are doing a special cheap repair deal , like they had to on Focus speedo clusters.
