Daughters 2009 Ford Ka had a brake light out. I thought it would be straight forward, but how wrong I was. For the life of me I cannot see how to get into the thing. No access from inside the boot and looked like I have to remove the whole cluster. Surely not?
I'd heard modern cars were sometimes difficult for bulb changing, but as I am still driving around in 10 plus year old cars, this has not become a problem for me yet.
Am I missing something obvious?
you might have to remove some trim in the boot to get to it to unclip it, I'm not familiar with the car ? so just trying to be helpful, although sometimes on modern cars it a bizare procedure trying to do some simple like change a bulb!
you probly can't remove it from outside the vehicle, so only other way is from inside with the trim removed, so reveal some 10mm or there about sized nuts which can be undone to do it with space if it can be wangled in situ.
Thanks for suggestion, but tried that. We did remove the bolts inside the boot that appear to hold the cluster in place, but it didn't come away from body easily so we didn't force it as suspect this is the wrong way to do it as there must be a seal between the cluster and the body and do not want to break that seal on a 2009 car. Nothing I can find on google or the archives here about the later ka brake light replacement.

I'm not sure of model years but my Haynes manual covers 52 to 58. There is a backplate on the lamp assembly which is shown being unclipped by squeezing some finger tabs from inside the boot leaving the housing in place. No need to unscrew anything.
