FORD TRANSIT STALLING

does anybody know why when i indicate right the fuel tank light comes on with the glow plug light and everything stops. A few minutes later everything starts again...could this be an electrical fault or fuel fault

As far as I'm aware, you don't need diesel to indicate right. Therefore I suggest you have an electrical fault. The current for one of the right hand side lamps may be earthing through something important. Does the same happen when you put the hazards on with the engine running?

Its ok when stationary but when im moving and indicate right ...it dosent do it when indicating left only right and then the fuel light comes on and the fuel gauge goes up then everything just cuts out...30 seconds later everything comes back on and engine restarts?

Sounds electrical, but it might help if you told us whether it's petrol, diesel[1], how old it is etc.

[1] yes, I know you mention the glowplug light but these are usually still there even on petrol models - sometimes they even have bulbs in!

Definitely an electrical fault. Take it to a competant auto spark and describe it exactly like you have here, maybe even take him out and show him. Shouldn't take him too long to track down.

Shirley not wired up, though?

Going by the process of elimination, I'm guessing it's a transit 2k, or a pre 91.

91-99 they all had 2.5di, which only had a heater device fitted for cold climates, and I never seen any with glow plug bulbs fitted. Pre 91 had glow plugs, along with 2k on.

Regardless of the vehicle details, without seeing the vehicle, it's hard to say. The transit 2ks were prone for wiring looms rubbing through and blowing fuses, or causing relays to stay permanently on (took me weeks to cure one that would intermittently not switch off *). And given that it takes a period before the vehicle will restart, it's obvioulsy time for something to reset, which could be an ECU or voltage regulator.

*Turned out the customer spec wiring that had a permanent 12V feed for powering equipment, was intermittently shorting to some of the main wiring loom in the rear of the van, causing a back feed to some of the relays, one of which was the engine cut-off relay. Biggest problem was it would never do it in the workshop, and when I finally did get it doing it, it took much head scratching over wiring diagrams to figure out the possible ways the backfeed could be getting there, and then I had to find it...

On computerised dashes I'd expect it probably is.

Mechanical or electronic injection pump?

Sounds to me like their is some loom damage, most likely behind the dash.
