Ford Transit Weird heaters??

I have spent 4 days tinkering with an old F Reg ford transit i bought its a

2.0 Litre petrol and all i get out the heaters is luke warm air sometimes cold, ive changed the thermastat, flushed the whole system with radfluch twice, cleaned and checked all the pips but still luke warm air, it defies reason, the engine temp sits half way at normal, the water in the radiator is very hot, all the pipes feel hot can anyone work this out, im at my wits end, i think its the same as a sierra type engine? but theres just no hot air comming out the blowers even when on full blast and sitting on idle for an hour.

Any ideas

Probably the heater rad is partially blocked, so that the hot just goes through one strip of it. Other thing worth checking is the angled connector into the underside of the inlet manifold, they sometimes block, as does the join at the manifold to the head, but really the heater rad is the likely problem. Put a new heater rad in, it is only quite cheap and is always an improvement.

Should have mentioned the heatr blower selector only works on 3, 2 and 1 position dont seem to work is this another fault or conected with the first.

Sounds like the resistor pack on the blower motor has packed in.

Very common problem on the Mondeo.

As to _where_ it is... I've no idea!

The heater resistor is mounted near the off side of the radiator. It's look likes a metal block with an electical connection. Common fault for the connections to corrode and fall off. Fit a new resistor, cut plug off wiring and use normal crimp on connectors.

Sounds like the heater matrix is partialy blocked. Best cure is to fit a new one, however I would try flushing it out first. Disconnect both pipes, and using a garden hose, flush it out. Connect the hose and flush it out both ways.

Hello,

All the corrosion from the knackered engine has been caught up in the heater matrix. You need a new one!

thanks for all your advice it is now fixed, after two bottles of radflush, and a hose put onto the heater matrix input i flushed it on high pressure for several minutes and this cleared the thing, ive since been told that people leaving old antifreeze in a system too long can block it as it go's sludgey, i think it has just been badly maintained myself.
