Help please

I have a transit 2 litre dohc 1998 s reg with a Tartarini tec 97 lpg conversion system. The problem that has happened now is that it has completely smashed up the air filter box and all the air intake system up to the inlet. It has been backfiring when running in lpg. I have taken it to an lpg place and they say their system cannot read the box, although it should be able to. I have ordered a new air intake system but I am bothered about it happening again. I dont know whether it was blow back pressure that did it or something else but it looked to me as though it might have burnt somewhere. It only seems to backfire when it is getting low on gas and normally when you are going slower and then put your foot down for more power and then it backfires. Is it possible to just replace the faulty unit so it can be read and adjusted? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks very much.

I think most people realised LPG is a bit of a con, most garages removed it from sale years ago. It was never popular. What is it, half the distance for half the cost! You're better off with a good diesel engine if you want economy. By the time you have spent thousands on the LPG conversion, then paid for the constant repairs and having to travel to a garage selling LPG - it's going to take longer than the life of the vehicle to benefit. It is the equivalent of the endowment policy of the car world. Mis-sold for profit.

More like 80-90% of the distance for 60% of the cost, actually.

It's only just starting to take off - it'll be *very* popular anywhere a congestion charge is introduced, 'cos LPG vehicles are usually exempt.

If it's going to be so popular, then how come certain major manufacturer's have dropped dual fuel vehicles from their ranges?
