HT lead cleaning tips

Re: Cleaning my HT leads. Do I need to remove them completely, wipe clean with a rag, then refit? Or can I just wipe them over in the engine bay, without removing? The spark plug ends of the leads go deep into the engine block -- I am worried I might mess up the contact to the spark plug if I remove these...

If I do decide to remove the leads (one at a time, then refit, of course) -- I have a can of electrical contact cleaner. Could I safely spray this on the lead ends, distributor contacts etc.? (Just worried about removing the HT leads then find that the engine won't restart when I refit them!) Thanks Bruce

Why bother? THere's no need to clean them.

You don't need a super clean contact as plug leads have a high built in resistance. Just make sure the outsides are reasonably clean to prevent tracking.

If they are done, buy new ones. I thought you were the same cheap skate that came on here and asked about alternatives to body filler. A Yorkshire person if ever I saw one.
