Rover 416 P reg. Immobiliser has been activated and cannot switch off
Does anybody know if this can be bypassed/removed. If so, how easy i this and how much is this likely to cost at a garage?
Obviously know that you cannot post how to deactivate due to potentia theives but could just do with knowing if it is possible because car i just not starting at the moment. Please help

What immobiliser and how was it activated. A few more details would help

If is the factory Rover one, seek out the emergency dis-arm code from the handbook, and use the accelorator pumping ritual to disarm the immob.

Its is the factory fitted rover immobiliser. It was activated when th battery was replaced. The correct keycode was entered but this has no disabled it. Have done this before so i know the code is correct.
I will attempt what Tim has suggested and see if that works

Let's assume your code is 3871.
Open & shut drivers door, then lock it and release key.
Turn key to unlock position 3 times.
Then turn it to lock postion 8 times
Then turn key to unlock position 7 times
Then turn key to lock position 1 time.
Then unlock door.
