I don't want that at all.

No way would I want a 160bhp Metro. Not at all. Never in a million years.

What a surprise. Don't know about tinyurl.com either apparently.

I'd be more concerned about it not being registered as a non-standard spec, and the problems getting insurance for it.

That said, the chavs who are likely to want it probably have no need for insurance or tax...

Strangely, it doesn't really have chav appeal because it's bog-standard looking apart from the wheels and the engine.

It does, however, have appeal to the more mature market who could easily get it re-registered with the correct details, and, more importantly, insure it for a pittance.

If I hadn't already run out of drive space, I'd be seriously considering it as something with which to scare people on track days.

Colin Wilson ( snipped-for-privacy@phoenixbbsZEROSPAM.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

If I were buying it - and I am strangely attracted to it - the first thing that'd happen would be that the correct engine number & capacity would be noted on the V5C.

Not likely to be an issue - unless you're 17. There's a strong specialist insurance industry out there.

The daft thing is, it's probably cheaper to insure than my sodding basic spec 1.3L '98 Hyundai Accent :-}

And undoubtedly *far* more entertaining to drive.

And sadly, probably more bloody comfortable :-}

More likely to scare yourself on track days, 160hp with Metro 1.1 suspension setup?! (and tiny rear drums). I suspect you'd be off at the first corner.

Probably a good sleeper for traffic light drags though.

Wouldn't take much to sort the suspension. You'd pick up GTI bits from a scrappy, no problem.

Rear brakes are a non-issue on the track anyway. If the rear brakes are doing anything on a road car, on the track, then you're not hitting the middle pedal hard enough.

Indeed. But, with some fettling underneath, without touching the cosmetics it would be so much more.
