Laguna Odometer reads KM

52 plate Renault Laguna 1.9DCi Estate, The odometer reads in KM is there a way to get it to read miles without Renault wanting a wad of cash. Also the spanner light is flashing, will be doing oil, filter etc. next weekend can it be reset without any equipment.

the service light is reset by turning on the ign and pressing the multifunction button on the steering wheel stalk until the spanner symbol flashes, then press the button by the speedo and hold it in till the display has flashed 8 times, release the button and the new service interval should be displayed, turn ign off.

If it helps at all, the handbook (page 62)for my 54 Disco says press and hold the trip reset button for more than 2 seconds. I know it works, because I once was horrified to find the 'mileage' had jumped enormously and had to find out how to get it back to mph - hold the button down again.

Thanks very much that worked fine, but I still have KM displayed on screen though I'm pretty certain the display shows miles not KM, for the odometer but not the other functions any ideas?

holding down the trip reset changes it on some cars

Once again thanks, apparently it's a known fault, if the battery is reconnected or someone attaches jump leads with the electronic key in the ignition it blows a chip on the speedo head. It then reverts back to default which is KM & the only solution is a new speedo head which Renault quote as around £720+vat. I'll live with it as it is.

oh the joys of French cars and modern electronics. an Anglia came in a while ago and the speedo needle was immediately moving to the top of the scale as sonn as you got going, I took the speedo out, cleaned the spinny disc, put it back, checked it against the gps, altered the little spring that adjusts the speed shown and gave the car back. Try doing that with a a modern car.
