Well I had one for 8 years and it was the most reliable car I've ever had. The ash tray and some suspension parts (subject to modification) were replaced under warranty. Compare that to my 3 series which had an entire new (very expensive) electric steering rack fitted when it was
2 years old.I should point out that I chose a diesel Alfa partly because they were vastly more reliable than some of their petrol models and there was no Selespeed option.
I'm convinced that most of that "drama, hassle or expense" is down to the dealer in question.
The only serious disappointment you'll definitely experience is when you come to sell it.
It's not so easy to killed by a fridge.
