Metric & Imperial brake unions

Not with a clean Brexit, which is what the vast majority of Leave voters wanted then and still want now.

Cobblers. If they want to put up trade barriers, they'll come off a lot worse than we would. But I wouldn't expect you of all people to know that, Dave. As a Socialist you obviously can't manage even basic arithmetic.

Whether it hurts the EU or not, they're not going to roll over and let us do anything that shows leaving is beneficial.

I've worked out what the difference between remainers and brexiters is. One group is interested in working together to advance the world in general, one group just wants to destroy anything it doesn't like the look of and damn the consequences - the same mechanism as Trump, the white nationalists et al.

Incidentally I can recommend these - available in both SAE and DIN versions .

But surely you know Britain rules the waves? All we have to do is send a gunboat and those bloody foreigners will know who is boss, and roll over.

The more I hear from rabid brexiteers, the more I realise they want to get back control - for themselves.

Yet another skill that supposedly skilled time served technicians don't have.

Bet the number under 40 that can change and set points is now very small.

Balance carbs / throttle bodies?

True story, E type with carbs went in for a service at Grange Motors, next morning the garage could not start it, eventually rang a known local specialist (Barry Sheene, I kid you not, unfortunately now also dead) for advice, he said: Have you pulled the choke right out? They said 'what's that?

The illusion of control. Unless actually in politics, there is no difference for Joe Soap, of course.

The truly depressing part of this ferrago is the hot air, meaningless phrases and speech without saying anything. It's like overhearing one of those conversations in pubs where bloke A is banging on about his car while bloke's B & C enthusiastically chip in their ha'porth. As a mechanic you know that almost everything they say is misunderstood, wildly exaggerated or just plain wrong but if you were to chip in it would go down like a bag of sick in a lift.

Or to impose s***ty standards on everyone. The SCART connection on may TV products of the previous decade comes to mind.

The SCART connector wasn't imposed by any legislation. It was adopted by many European TV makers simply because it already existed in France. And did the job required, rather than invent a new one.

It's not a perfect connector, but did the job it was intended to do perfectly well. Certainly better than the earlier UK idea of connecting a VCR via the aerial socket to save pennies.

Absolutely. Very odd so many poor were persuaded by the likes of Farage that they would somehow have more control over their lives out of the EU. When the reverse is far more likely, with a right wing government in the UK.

So what happens next?

  1. Northern Ireland leaves the UK and joins Eire; thereby maintaining a transparent border between the two countries and reducing the risk of sectarian violence recurring.

  1. Many more European countries suffer financially and are bailed out by Germany.

  2. England, Wales, and Scotland (and IoM & Channel Isles) run into financial difficulties and are bailed out by Germany.

So by 2039 the Germans have achieved their aim of total domination of Europe ...

The Irish border is one of those thing that should have been known about before the referendum. If it was, I can't remember hearing it discussed. And I can't see any way of having an open border there with different tariffs etc applying to goods - let alone the rights of EU workers to go to Eire.

But Scotland will be independant, since it voted massively in favour of remain?

But anything is better than the EU. ;-)

Some of us have never had two carbs that need balancing!

With some of the obnoxious remoaners on usenet, it probably is.
