mondeo 2.2tdci tech spec

Hi,

this is a little off topic as this isn't a maintenance question but please bear with me.

I've decided I'm going to get myself a mondeo 2.2tdci as they seem to give a good balance of fun to drive and economy. Also second hand prices seem very reasonable. Although not overly sexy, it should make the daily commute a little more bearable.

I've had a look at the ford website for technical data but the link is dead. I've contacted ford about the dead link but they've done nothing about it. Also I've popped into a dealership but as the new ford is out they've not restocked on the old brochures.

So could someone in the know tell me what the difference is between the 2.2 models from a technical standpoint. I assume the engine/ gearbox is the same on all but don't know about the rest.

Do they all have traction control etc.

Does the ST tdci have more technology in it or just beefed up suspension?

Also I've heard talk that the early 2.2 tdcis have more power. Is this true?

Thanks in advance. Cheers, Gavin.

Unfortunetely parkers tells you next to nothing about the technical spec of the car.

Seems fairly technical to me.

First off, you should really be talking to a Ford salesperson - one that gives a stuff about what you want. Have you tried Ford Direct's website? Have a look at machines various.

Second, how did you decide... without knowing the "technical specification?" And what do you mean by this?

I guess you mean the equipment? That will vary model for model and option for option. It's close to a given, but the ST models have similar equipment, regardless if they're the TDCi or V6.

Finally, whilst I'm a fan of the Mondeo, especially the diesels, do bear in mind that these cars lose value very quickly. With the new machine out, they'll lose value even quicker. If you spend something like £12,000 on a Mondeo TDCi now you can expect it to be worth very little in two years time. That makes them a great used buy after two to four years - inside this, you'll lose cash hand over fist. This won't concern you if you plan on keeping it for a while but if you plan to change every three years, it's something to consider.

Anyway from memory the earlier generation 2.2 TDCi produced 155 PS and the later engine produced 153 PS. But you are not going to notice this!

Finally you may find some Mondeo brochures available on eBay...
