Hi :-))
I have been running the car while the petrol indicator was in the red. I don't consider this a problem while the fuel indicator doesn't light up, as it has done in the past.
Saturday morning, while climbing a shallow incline, the car came to a stop after a 'soft' stutter. It would not restart on the key. Half an hour later I went back to the car and once again it didn't start on the key.
As I was desperate to get it off the dual carriageway I decided to bump it in reverse, and it started, and got me home. That was 250 yards, or so, when it again began to stutter slightly as I parked it.
Is it possible that reverse bumping sloshed the fuel in the tank enough for the fuel pump to fill the injectors? I know that with carbs, and levelling the car, it is possible to fill the float chamber which can carry the car a few hundred yards. Otherwise I don't see how it can cut out and, then later, restart? All electrical leads are sound. Since the snow has been around, I as yet haven't bothered to go and get more fuel. So it's still sat where I left it.
The other issue is with the heater blower fan, and the distribution(?) unit.
(1) The fan only operates on setting number four. I take this to be the ceramic fuse on the wire wound resistor pack? .It's been this way since ownership of the car.
(2) I no longer hear the distribution unit operate when I switch the dial? I can find no help in the Haynes manual for this part of the blower system. Any help on this? A site page with descriptions, maybe??
Thanks for any help, ..or even a bit of senseless humour :-))
Cheers,
...Ray.
