Mondeo Cuts Out

Aug 12, 2004 2 Replies

Father in law has an m-plate 1.8 mondeo, when you pull upto a junction most of the time it will cut out,now and again it will recover and idle fine,i found that if you blipped the throttle when you dipped the clutch she idles fine,it also idles lumpy on tickover with a popping out the exhaust,it pulls fine and accellarates smoothly and is good on fuel, Have changed the valves on the bulkhead and cleaned the throttle body and the idle speed control valve,is it something to do with the egr? Any help would be appreciated, also checked all the t-pieces for air leaks etc all ok

Many Thanks Si

My N-plate 1.8 Mondeo Zetec also does this. Any advice also appreciated!

Replace the EPT unit... Exhaust pressure transducer unit..... located on the bulk head... silver in colour.... size of a packet of cigarettes with 2 pipes and a multiplug on it.... a real pain in the arse on mondeos.
