Mondeo won't start

Turn key, no usual sound of injection pump. Try to start but nothing happens. Not even a click from solenoid. All dash lights are showing ok (oil and ignition etc).

Red LED by clock is flashing continuously when ignition is on. Cannot recall if this is normal or not.

Battery is fine. Fitted new battery a week ago (Varta) and did a 130 mile run last week.

Immobiliser battery in key? or the immobiliser itself, it's reasonably easy to bypass.

if the light flashes rapidly for a minute then flashes irregularly then the key is not recognised, have you tried a spare key?

Changed battery in key and all ok now. What seems strange to me is it opened doors and operated alarm perfectly using remote.

Thanks for advise
