We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember davethedave saying something like:

F*****ts standing too close behind, is the problem.

Why "strangely enough"? There's plenty of cars out there without any 'screen fitted - or way TO fit a screen...

Your definition of "modern" is as in "post-medieval".

No but this is a vehicle that's designed and fitted with a screen and wipers and washers, so you may think that removing the said items it would not be able to be tested? I know the rules and regs regarding screens and when a crack fails, or in a kit car what size of screen requires wipers etc, some if does not really make a lot of sense!. As an extreme, if you removed all lights on a car it could be a fail, though if you did the same on a bike you pass with a daytime only MOT (all other things being equal!) There are people paid a lot of 'our' money to create these regulations..

Because there is no car equivalent to a daylight-only bike, and certain lights are required by law on all cars (subject to the usual caveats about age) - glass isn't required to be fitted to all cars.

Caterham et al would be stuffed if it was...

Nope,

Bugger me. Live and learn.

The message from Grimly Curmudgeon contains these words:

Along with people who stop in doorways as they enter/leave shops. One of these days I'm going armed with a hatpin to deal with the bastards.

You can safely guarantee they'll find some C&U rule you've broken if you try it with a normal car :-)

You know me by now... I don't *do* "normal car"...
