MOT test of ABS

Is there any functional test of the ABS system during an MOT or simply a check that the warning light goes on and off ?

only the operation of the light is tested

Some people have been known to connect it to the oil pressure light to mask faults.

All depends on the type of ABS system fitted, some ABS lights don't go out until the car is actually moving - the P38 Range Rover being one example. Others go out after 10 seconds, and some go out at the same time as the alternator light.

Mot stations tend to have a chart telling you which type is fitted to each particular car, and how the light should behave ;-)
