Mximum towing weight for a 1998 Vauxhall Ventra

Hi

My in-laws have a 98 Vauxhall Vetra 2.0 and they are looking at getting a 2 berth caravan. They though cannot find details of the maximum towing weight.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Scott

"pulling with no problems" is quite different from knowing what the maximum towing weight is!

Why can't people do their own research? Why do they expect others to do it all for them?

Putting "vectra towing weight" into Google returns this as the first result - I think it will provide the answer.

Hi Scott, the max towing weight differs from the recommended towing weight.

The gross train weight GTW(i.e. max total of towing vehicle weight + trailer weight) should be on a plate usually under the bonnet, this is legally binding and can lead to fines if exceeded.

The caravanning associations recommend using the 85% guidelines. Simply these guidelines say that the maximum weight of the towed van, referred to as the MTPLM (that is the weight of the empty caravan MiRO + its payload: awning, gas, TV, clothes, food etc.) should not exceed 85% of the towing vehicles kerbweight. (the vectra, your in-laws, luggage etc.)
