New Car help needed.

Hi all. I bought my girlfriend a Ford Escort LX Kreg 1.6i 16v car for her birthday. Just a simple question to ask those who might know or has this type of car. When locking the car (central locking), sometimes it beeps about 4 times and sometimes it don't. Its not an alarm as she does not have one at the moment. It's alittle hard to discribe but,the beeps accure when theres a further noise of the car locking. Please can you shed some light on this. Much appreciated.

Yep. When it beeps, it means it's deadlocking. It does it if you turn the key in the "unlock" direction just before you turn it in the "lock" direction.

Colin.

It's when the inside handles of the doors are disabled so that a*seholes can't just break a window, then reach in and open the door.

You don't have to actually unlock it. If the car is unlocked, turning the key to the unlock position will appear to do nothing, but will actually start a timer of a few seconds. If you then turn the key to the lock position before the timer expires, it'll deadlock and bleep.

Cheers,

Colin.
