New technology magazine

Hi All

I'm not sure whether you folks are the right people to ask, but you certainly seem to be "into" technology.

We have a new magazine about technology - that's technology in general, and not just things like computers - and we're always looking for people to write articles about their favourite subject.

So are there any subjects of general interest that any of you folks would like to write for us, please, bearing in mind that the readers are not specialists in any field, but just interested in the practical applications of technology?

It's a commercial magazine, but it's run with a user-group feel, so all the articles are written by the readers for love rather than by professional journalists, so hopefully the articles "tell it like it is".

Thanks a lot.

Apart from spamming the group, your 'new' magazine doesn't seem to contain anything that isn't freely available via Google. There's also a few other mags. out there that are _far_ better than your effort (Namely T3 and Stuff).

Oh, the irony:

spam

Nat Queen talks about the curse of modern email communication and asks what can we do to reduce the amount of superfluous email we get.

There's one easy way to deal with it...... abuse reports to the offender's ISP. So say goodbye to your account :-)

Paul Beverley mumbled:

Really? Most of us spend most of our time cursing it and wishing cars had less of it so we had a chance of understanding what the hell's gone wrong /this/ time.

I'm sure the information is there if you want to go out and specifically search for it. Living with Technology aims to bring it to your armchair.

In any case, the readers may not know they want something until they read someone else's experiences.

e.g. I first heard about FreeView through an early edition of Living with Technology. I didn't know it existed, so I couldn't go to Google to look for it.

In any case, I spend all my day in front of the computer screen (editing magazines!), so in the evening I prefer to relax in the lounge with some reading matter in physical form.

Presumably, my subscribers feel the same sort of thing.

It's horses for courses.

T3 and Stuff are funded partly by adverts. Living with Technology has no advertising and therefore if some new piece of technology is naff, we can say so without losing advertising revenue.

Living with Technology (as its name is intended to suggest) is aimed to answer questions such as:

Is this technology really useful (as opposed to just being fashionable)?

How can I make my existing technology last longer (instead of throwing it away and buying new as the advertisers in T3 and Stuff want you to do)?

I hope that makes it clear enough that we are not competing against either T3 and Stuff or the internet.

All the best,

Paul.

Yes, I too prefer the old-fashioned paper type magazines - which is what Living with Technology is.

Erm, I'm sat in my armchair now, reading and replying to this.

Something which Google is very good for.

Hmmm, so you didn't see all the expensive adverts on telly, then?

Hmmmmm. I think you'll find that most people are comfortable reading on their computer in the evenings these days.

I've always found them pretty honest about reviewing kit - and quite often disagreed with some of their bad reviews.

Already covered by other magazines / google searches.

None of this makes the slightest bit of difference, the abuse reports have been sent.

Maybe 'SPAMMING with Technology' can help you find a new ISP?

Chances are anything I'm interested in will get a passing mention in New Scientist. Hmmm, must find and finish last week's.

Yep, tis the burgerman. Hope they got his permission or I suspect there will be some sort of jet engined balsa wood plane flying at them as we speak :P.
