no battery light on dashboard

Apr 10, 2006 1 Replies

Hello all.

I have an R reg Polo Diesel. After replacing my old (dead) alternator, the battery light does not come on anymore. I turned the key to the 2 position and the oil light and handbrake light illuminate as normal, but the battery light does not. When I turn the key to

3rd position, the car starts as usual.

Do you think replacing the alternator caused somehow some fuse to blow up.

Thanks Dahman

There is a wire that connects to the D+ terminal of the alternator, if this has not been reconnected, it may cause this light to die...or the bulb has popped!
