Oil change pump

Jun 27, 2006 1 Replies

Hi all

Have looked at the pumps that you use with a pipe down the dipstick tube to remove the oil from the sump

They seem to be available only in ships chandlers and the ones I found were hand operated vacuum devices

The idea of not having to scrabble around under the car to remove the under tray and then drain the oil has some appeal

Are they any good ?

Any recommendation as to type source etc would need 6 litre capacity

Tony

they do work upto a point. they leave a small amount in the bottom of the sump, the oil has to be heated up as normal, boats have them because you cannot get to the sump drain bolt. the do make a 12v dc pump, just ask around the chandlers, one of them should have one.
