Omega transmission

All.

I've got a 2001 Omega 2.2 Auto with 78K on the clock, and the problem is when the transmission is hot. When pulling to a stop, as it changes back to first, I get a clonk from the rear.

Its fine accelerating, only get the prob when slowing down.

I thought maybe UJ - but any gearbox gurus like to tell me if this sounds expensive

Cheers

Martin

If the sound's coming from the rear, it's unlikely to be the gearbox as that'll be, more-or-less next to your left leg (when you're in the driver's seat, natch.)

To my mind, it sounds like some part of the suspension is settling in some position as you slow and the extra torque as the autobox shifts into first pulls it back again. Prolly bush related.

Out of interest, have you tried knocking it into N as you slow to check that it's not just coincidental that the autobox is changing into 1st?
