OT. Very sad news re David Vizard

I'm sure some of you in here who've modified a Mini, Pinto or Chevy engine will have read the books of or at least heard of the engine specialist and technical author David Vizard. He's been my friend, mentor and confidante for over 30 years. He emailed me to say that his beloved 18 year old daughter Jacqueline, who suffered from severe depression, took her own life last week. Needless to say his world, and that of his entire family has collapsed.

There's a guest book online at the website of the funeral home who are handling this. Just type "Jacqueline Vizard" into google. I'm sure he would appreciate a few words from those his expertise has helped even if they didn't know the family.

So sad. Why is it that, in these days of plenty, so many young people are minded to take their own lives. What are we doing wrong? Or was it ever so?

Anyway my deepest sympathy to David and his family.

Well, I think we get to hear about it more often these days - in this case, we wouldn't have known pre-Internet.

But it's not just the young - my 77 year old mother took her own life earlier this year.
