I decided it was time to replace the rear discs of my 1996 Passat after almost 120,000 miles.
Looking at the Haynes manual it looked fairly straightforward.
I bought some new discs, and set about fitting them. All went well until I tried to undo the caliper securing bolts. It transpired, although no mention was made in Haynes, that they were round-headed bolts with 8mm hex sockets. I could not budge these bolts, although I have only tried one side so far. I even went out and bought a set of 3/8" drive hex bits with no avail.
Any tips?
