it is under the bonnet, just below the windscreen, on the left of the car assuming rhd, looks like it just pulls out

Pretty much every pollen filter I've changed came with a sheet of simple line drawings.
Interestingly the Halfords sheet for an Astra was way simpler than the HBOL version - Haynes had you dismantling most of the engine bay, the Halfords sheet just bent a few things vaguely out of the way.
