Alarms are pretty pointless as no-one takes any notice. A descent factory fitted imobiliser is all you need.

If you're really paranoid then get a disk lock for the steering wheel.

Hello,

I quite agree, the car already has a factory fitted immobilser anyway, but some noise wouldn't do any harm. it will also give me chance to get something ready to throw at them!

If you are close enough to hear it then that's fine, it just won't do a lot of good if you're out of earshot.

I'm afraid I can't offer a lot of advice cos I live in a relativly safe place, have fairly uninteresting cars and have never bothered fitting an alarm system. I hope some of the other guys can help.

Microscan alarms are not the most reliable or long lasting.

Though the AN312 (302?) outlasted my last Maestro...which was five years.
