Rear Screen Washer INOP

I have a 1997 (R) vauxhall astra 1.7TD estate and the rear screen washe

has stopped working (and yes there is water in the tank). The motor an pump sound like they work fine but water is not getting to the jet. What could be the problem? How do i get access to the pipes going to the jet to check they haven' become disconnected?

Thanks in advance

S

The usual cause is a gunged up filter near the water tank. It stops the front water jets working too. After a while it will dribble and that's it. You can try to clear it yourself by pouring boiling hot water in to the tank and leaving it for 15mins. Repeat it again, leave to cool a bit and try squirting. If you can get at the tank get a new filter, they cost a few pence but loads to fit due to the position! Over time if people use too much screenwash concentrate in the water it causes gunge to build up. Some people even put washing up liquid in. Don't forget to poke a pin in the jet to ensure it is not blocked!

Try to use viakal or other salt desolvers and put on the jet of the rear screen. Or else try to use air with pressure from the jet to the tank so the sault that is gathered to return back

It has to do with the rear jet since the front work and they have the same pump and tank

Hope that can help

Is water coming out anywhere and falling on the ground? Early astras had a habit of the pipe failing where it flexed as the rear hatch opened.
