Replace shocks?

OK, this is REALLY embarrassing, but...

I've had a closer look at my shocks. I wiped them clean when I washed my car, and then inspected them a couple of days later. They still looked like they were weeping again, but then I had another look. They were just REALLY clean :-o. I wiped it with my finger and it wasn't even dirty, it was just a glossy finish on the shock. It does sound stupid, but it really looked like it was damp. When I first looked it even looked dirty, and glossy at the same time. Even though it is stupid, it's easier to make the mistake than you think.

With your car, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd just run out of oil by now...
