Rover + OBD-II reader problem

Feb 09, 2010 4 Replies

Hi

Rover '02 1.6 Engine management light came on.

Bought a U480 OBD-II reader and the booklet says OBD-II *should* be compatible for all European cars after '01. However I was suspicious because the pin-out is not similar to any of the listed protocols !

However it started off OK and showed 1 fault, but when stepping on to read the code it returns N/A which is described as 'Not supported on that vehicle' Anyway, it has allowed me to clear the count and after a run of about 20 miles, it hasn't so-far reappeared.

So to the question, what should I be looking for to read the codes, should it reappear ?

Thanks

A garage that has Solus or similar. My small hand held OBD reader won't do Rovers properly either.

Oh well ! Thanks for the confirmation.

Would anyone have the pin out descriptions of the Rover 25 ODB socket please?

Yes, should have been OBD. Things have moved on and I know the pin out - I already had it on a CD !

What might be helpful now, is to know how pin 5 is wired on a car where one of these hand-held readers, like the U480 does work. i.e. how is the signal earth provided ?
