Scraped the garages courtesy car

When I had a courtesy car via an insurance repair, the courtesy car was covered by *my* insurance, which the insurer temporarily switched to cover it.

Well, it was in a garage for mechanical repairs, so nothing to do with an insurance claim....

Did you get any paperwork with the courtesy car?

Signed some but didnt get a copy. Not clever I know....

Bit of a scrap on the door, as well as small dent. Any idea how much roughly this is going to set me back?

I imagine the garages insurance policy has got me hammered for about £1000 excess or something !!!!!!

Car dont go back until monday evening. Perhaps I could get chips away to sort it and not tell them ? ;-)

Give them a call and see what they can do ... I think they only do paint repair not dent repair ?

If not you've got your work cut out trying to find a bodyshop who will do it this weekend :) sure they're must be someone willing to do it for a little bonus you offer them.

Aren't you the bloke who complanes incessantly about 'dodgy garages' doing horrible underhand things?

Do what you'd want them to do, pay the excess and get it repaired by professionals.

Ahh, but in the case of hire or courtesy cars, they often take the money (multiple times if they can persuade another sucker that they caused pre-existing damage), but don't actually carry out any repairs.

im in solihull west mids and I am a smart repairer what annoys me is rental companys sting u your excess then call me in and i charge per corner panel etc so a lot less i personally would not use chips away as of there quality and cost the best operatives i know of are at

A guy down the road from me scraped his Scenic along the metal gate hanger on his gatepost. He'd left it a while before getting it repaired and I could see a it of surface rust so he'd obviously done a good job of it...

Anyway, he called out the local chips away guy and he did an amazing job. I had a look afterware and you couldn't tell it'd ever been damaged. It was on a flat blue car though, maybe it'd be different for a metallic?

Didn't you sign up for a collision damage waiver? I do that when I use a courtesy car. Cost only a fiver last time.

They're all dependent on who you get.

That's where they make the real profit though.

I had a courtesy car for a weekend. Drove about half a mile and parked when this young guy reversed into the side of me. Got his number, name and address and went back.

Handing the receptionist the paper I said this guy had just reversed into the side of that car I took 10 minutes ago. She looked at it and said "That's my son, is he alright?" Never heard anything else about it :-)

Exactly, so best bet would be for the OP to e.g. ask people at work, mates etc. for a recommendation. Sounds like he hasn't got time though :(

Tell them. They might well expect some "wear and tear".

I hired a 07 Fiat Punto Grande for a week. Before driving off I went around the car checking dents and scratches; it was amazing how much it had already collected, but you had to look carefully. My 15 years old saab looks better! Parking it at home in the sunlight, I discovered even more serious scratches (unreported on the sheet) and nothing to do with my hire period. This alarmed me a bit. I didn't want to be blamed for damage from previous hire customers, so I decided not to tell them. Luckily the agent didn't didn't check it over when I returned. Pyh!
