service costs

I was reading the Haynes book yesterday since I will probably start doing the servicing on my 5 year old Focus. Hmm it seems at the last (50k) service I was essentially charged =A3200 odd for an oil change ! ( 10 yr antifreeze, 35k+ for fuel/air / odour filters, valve check!!) amazing. Although they did put a bit of grease on the door hinges though :-)

I save a few pounds myself with at home servicing. I don't do oil changes too messy, I got to national and take up there oil change offer. I do the rest. Major work goes off to the garage where its better done.

The message from "Matt" contains these words:

Is it ever actually available? Several times I've tried to do their £15 oil change but strangely they never happen to have that oil in stock but "We can do the next one up, sir, it's only a fiver more".

Bingo !

Happened to me twice, in my case they "charge extra for Zetec oil" kinda makes their advert (all petrol engines 2litres or less) look bogus :(

'From only £20' and 'subject to manufacturer's specification'.

HTH.

They've changed the wording since I last tried then.

The message from snipped-for-privacy@italiancar.co.uk (SteveH) contains these words:

Buggrit! When I checked before I typed that they were still plugging the £15 change.
