sierra 2.0 carb DOHC

Just had the timing chain replaced on this, now the tickover is lumpy like it's over choked and it misses slightly at higher revs...Idles at 1000rpm mostly but sometimes drops to 500....Still goes OK though....

Cam timing screwed??

could be the new chain should have idiot proof markings on it to make sure it cannot be put on wrong, no matter how incompetent the person doing the job is there are copper links that mark the timing points on the crank and both cams so you can't time it wrong

the only other alternative could be that you have left a few pipes off or connected them the wrong way round

sorted!

Anyway, the guy who did the chain had done plenty before and as you say it's pretty foolproof....

BTW I notice it has the same electric fuel pump setup as the injection models, but I can't see any fuel filter...Worth fitting one?

there is probably a filter in the inlet union of the carb. I have cleaned out one of these, and own one, but I can't remember what it is like. I have got the book on it somewhere.
