A neighbour bought a new handbrake cable for his Sierra. It has disc rear brakes. The operating lever on the brake is a simple hook. The cable a normal sort of nipple. The old cable has a sort of loop at the end. The supplier is adamant it's the correct one. But I reckon it might be for the drum brake variety. Any clues - or did they change the design somewhere down the line?

What you describe is correct - all he needs is someone who is able to fit it for him.
mine has rear discs, I'll look in the morning
Sounds like the wrong cable, unless there happens to be a joining piece at the end of the old cable.
