Hi again. We broke down yesterday - lost all power and acceleration. It returned at the top of the hill for 3 seconds but, even revving it like an idiot, it wasn't going anywhere. The AA came out and I was seriously impressed with them - he was absolutely brilliant. Plugged it into the computer and, lo, it was the air mass meter.
It's now booked in to have it replaced at a local garage (NOT the VW one) tomorrow morning and, fingers crossed, it should be back to normal by the afternoon/evening. I'll report back here. The AA man also found the filter (yellow flappy thing) was wet, dirty and had almost certainly never been replaced. I'm effing furious at VW - all that money my late Father paid, for his first and only brand new car, and we've been treated like idiots. It's *almost* worthy of a letter. Anyone know how much a filter will cost? Even I can replace that (forgot to ask the garage today)
